🧠Training
One of the best things you can do to bond with your foster dog is to work on basic training skills with them. This not only builds their trust in you and teaches them new things, it also makes them more appealing to adopters! Training doesn’t have to be a huge time commitment, either (trust me, your dog’s attention span will only last so long anyway). Just 10 to 15 minutes a day is plenty of time to teach your pup some new tricks.
If you read nothing else in this section, please pay attention to the resources on providing structure and mental stimulation. Providing structure is the best way to get your foster feeling comfortable in a new environment and give him a clear idea of what is expected of him. And while most fosters know that dogs need physical exercise, many don’t know that mental stimulation is just as, if not more, important!
